Peter Jackel’s last day at The Journal Times of Racine was Friday, Sept. 5, 2025 — retiring after nearly 46 years as a sports reporter.

Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service (NNS), the nonprofit newsroom dedicated to covering the city’s diverse neighborhoods, has promoted veteran journalist Edgar Mendez to managing editor following a national search. Two reporters have also been hired by NNS.

Saskia Hatvany has left the LaCrosse Tribune and Winona Daily News after two years as a photojournalist.

Friday, Aug. 29, was Steve Rundio’s last day at The LaCrosse Tribune. He inhabited positions ranging from paper boy to sports reporter to weekly editor to covering crime and courts during that 38-year time period in the Coulee Region.

Janesville’s daily newspaper celebrated its 180th birthday on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.

Sara Century joined the staff of the Iron County Miner recently, working as a writer, reporter, and photographer for the newspaper while working with newspaper page layout and set-up of various jobs at the print shop, as well.
