From politics and education to public health and natural disasters, local journalists are often tasked with helping communities understand national stories.

But how can they do so in ways that build understanding and trust? Drawing on audience research, Trusting News will share simple, practical strategies for localizing national issues and engaging audiences in ways that inform communities and foster constructive dialogue. 

Meet the presenter 

Lynn Walsh is an Emmy award-winning journalist who has worked in investigative journalism at the national level and locally in California, Ohio, Texas and Florida.

She is the Assistant Director of Trusting News, a former Ethics Chair for the Society of Professional Journalists and a past national president for the organization. Based in San Diego, Lynn is also an adjunct professor and a freelance journalist.
