Last month, the WNA Foundation opened registration for the Wisconsin Civics Games. We've already had several schools sign up to participate, but we need members' help to reach a wider audience.

As part of its effort to promote citizenship and civil dialogue, the University of Wisconsin System has announced an annual $20,000 commitment in support of the Wisconsin Civics Games, a statewide civics bowl hosted by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation.

The funds will support scholarships and cash awards for the Civics Games and its accompanying editorial writing and cartooning contests, as well as promotion of the programs.
The deadline for the Wisconsin Civics Games Editorial Writing & Cartoon Contest, presented by the WNA Foundation, has been extended until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. With the extension, winners will now be announced in early January, at which time winning entries will be made available for publication by WNA newspapers.

In an effort to help the WNA Foundation spread the word about its second annual Wisconsin Civics Games Editorial Writing & Cartoon Contest, the Wisconsin State Journal is making its recent editorial about the competition available to WNA members.
As we approach the Oct. 24 submission deadline, we hope newspapers will consider publishing it in print and online.
