After 31 years in the Janesville newsroom, reporter Frank Schultz has retired from The Gazette, he announced in a column this week.
Schultz’s last day was Monday. He shared memories and thanked readers as well as current and former colleagues in his farewell column.

A 1986 UW-Madison journalism graduate, Schultz got his start in newspapers as a reporter for The Boscobel Dial. After two years there, he left for another reporting position at The Daily Item in Sunbury, Pa.
Schultz returned to Wisconsin in 1990 when he joined The Gazette, and he remained with the newspaper for the next three decades. A longtime general assignment reporter, Schultz also covered the education and criminal justice beats during his time in Janesville.
