HUDSON – O’Rourke Media Group announced last week it has launched new websites for its former RiverTown newspapers, ditching its previous regional model for a more local focus.
Rivertowns.net, the previous online home of the (Ellsworth/Red Wing, Minn.) Republican Eagle and the (Hudson) Star-Observer, is being replaced by individual websites for each newspaper. The regional website was launched in August 2019, coinciding with the mergers of several newspapers.
News about the Ellsworth and Red Wing area can now be found at www.republicaneagle.com, while Hudson-area news is at www.hudsonstarobserver.com. A third website, www.riverfallsjournal.com, covers the River Falls area.

In its announcement about the new websites, O’Rourke noted plans to expand its digital offerings, including more coverage of local “things to do,” food and drink, and real estate. The new websites also make it easier for readers to sign up for local newsletters, subscribe to each newspaper and find local events.
