ACLU of Wisconsin names former journalist Alyssa Mauk as communications director

The American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin has named former journalist Alyssa Mauk as communications director, the organization announced Monday.

Mauk will handle communications strategy for the ACLU of Wisconsin, as well as media and public relations, social media and website management. She previously spent five years as a reporter for The Journal Times in Racine.

Beloit Daily News moving to new downtown office

The Beloit Daily News will move this fall to a new office in downtown Beloit, the newspaper announced Wednesday.

The move to 444 E. Grand Ave., a building that formerly housed Turtle Creek Books, is expected to take place in September. The facility will house the Daily News editorial, advertising, subscriber and business operations, while printing and distribution will continue to be based out of Janesville.

Franklin getting back on the map

I haven’t driven much lately but have noticed two new road signs erected in my neck of the woods that make me feel proud. There are now along Jackson County Highway C two green road signs that say “Franklin, unincorporated.”
