New poll question: Do you support workplace vaccine mandates?

A new poll question asking whether readers support vaccine requirements in the workplace is available to be used by WNA members. Following the full FDA approval of the COVID-19 vaccine, we are asking the question in light of an increasing number of employers beginning to require their workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Poll questions are available through a WNA partnership with Polco aimed at helping newspapers better engage readers and access enhanced data and insights. WNA members who have signed up for an account can access their local version of the new question, as well as local poll results, on their dashboards. Those who have not signed up can do so here.

Robert Dye, former Journal Communications VP, dies at 74

Robert Dye, who served as an editor at the Milwaukee Sentinel before joining the communications department of its parent company, died Monday, Sept. 3. He was 74.

A Missouri native, Dye attended Baylor University and started his career in Kansas City, Mo. According to his Milwaukee Journal Sentinel obituary, Dye was hired by the Sentinel while on a layover in the city during a trip to Canada for another job interview. He went on to serve as an assignment editor, assistant city editor and news systems editor for the Sentinel. MMC publisher’s poems recorded by music duo

"Tapestry of Love and Loss," a 2012 book of poems by Multi Media Channels CEO and publisher Patrick Wood, has been put to music and the album is now available on several streaming platforms, the company announced this week in a press release.

Park and Franklin, a singer-songwriter duo, composed original music to pair with 15 of Wood's 21 poems. The book was inspired by a trip to Spain, which led him to revisit some previously written poems.

NNA Foundation establishes Max Heath Postal Institute

The National Newspaper Association Foundation has launched a new postal education program named after longtime NNA postal guru Max Heath, who died on July 28 at age 75.

The Max Heath Postal Institute will focus on educating newspapers and printers on the best practices within the U.S postal system. Memorial donations made to the NNA Foundation in Heath's honor will be dedicated to the postal training fund.
