Seth Carlson named regional editor of Ashland Daily Press, Price County Review

Seth Carlson

Seth Carlson has been named regional editor of the Ashland Daily Press and will also oversee the Price County Review in his new role with Adams Publishing Group.

Carlson wrote a welcome column in the same Sept. 18, 2025 issue that the announcement was made in The Daily Press.

Carlson has experience in both traditional journalism and digital media to the position. Most recently, he operated his own communications consultancy, creating educational email courses and LinkedIn content for communications consultants, fractional leaders, and boutique agencies.

Before launching his consulting firm, Carlson served as senior communication specialist for Marshfield Clinic Health System in Park Falls. Earlier in his career, he spent about a decade with Adams Publishing Group as managing editor of the Price County Review, working between the Park Falls and Phillips offices. He also had a previous stint with the Ashland Daily Press more than 10 years ago.

Carlson takes over from interim editor Tom Stankard, who handled the role with limited resources during the transition period.

Carlson earned his bachelor’s degree in fine arts from UW-Stout in 2010, focusing on multimedia design, and holds a master’s degree in communication from Northwestern University, which he completed in 2021.

In addition to overseeing editorial operations at both newspapers, Carlson will be investigating new media and distribution formats as the publications adapt to the evolving media landscape.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Press,” Carlson said. “Ashland and the Bay Area are a Wisconsin gem, and I’m honored to be helping carry on the tradition of this legacy publication.”

In his free time, Carlson enjoys fishing, reading, listening to music, watching films, and following the Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
