Associated Press is experiencing increased interest in its StoryShare service among state newspapers and is interested in expanding its use in newsrooms statewide. AP StoryShare is a platform that allows newsrooms to share content with or run content from partner newsrooms across the state and across the country.
Wisconsin newsrooms that currently have access to StoryShare include: Antigo Daily Journal, Beloit Daily News, Daily Jefferson County Union, The EagleHerald, Kenosha News, La Crosse Tribune, Lake Geneva Regional News, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Chippewa Herald, The Gazette, The Journal Times, Watertown Daily Times, Wausau Daily Herald, Wisconsin State Journal and Leader-Telegram.
Gary Roundtree, Local News Success Lead from the Associated Press, said AP StoryShare participation is free to AP members, with non-members charged a nominal fee and in some cases, an umbrella local news fund or association contributes a flat fee to cover all non-member participants, with the fee roughly determined by the number of participants on-boarded.
For participants, the only requirements are media insurance for participating outlets and redistribution permissions from any freelance contributors (to ensure that the content featured in StoryShare can be picked up by any other participants without worrying about copyright issues), according to Roundtree.
