Hannah Brock — who also is known by her more preferred nickname, Hannah Anastasia Ruth — is the new reporter for the Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Atklinson.
She grew up in the Mojave Desert, in California, where she spent time “concocting stories and playing with a point and shoot camera any chance I got.”
She met her husband, Jake, who is from Whitewater, and moved to Fort Atkinson together. They have two rescue dogs and one “spicy” cat.
She credits studying photography at Madison Area Technical College for rekindling a love of photography and documentary work.
“In all that I do, I always hope to simply help people, truly see people, and somehow make the world a better place in my small way,” Brock wrote. “Journalism has a rich history of telling stories in such a way that changes the landscape of human imagination and compassion.”
She said she hopes to always bring compassion and integrity to her work, and that she simply loves telling human stories: “I’m so excited to be a part of the Daily Union. I can’t believe I get to do what I already love doing in my own free time. I hope to feel into the heartbeat of Fort Atkinson and share my findings with you all.”
