Longtime Southern Lakes Newspapers editor-in-chief Ed Nadolski has retired after 23 years with the company, the news group reports. His last day was Jan. 27.
Nadolski joined the group of six weekly newspapers in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth counties in 2000, when it was owned by the Branen family. The next year, brothers Jack, Peter and Harold Cruger purchased Southern Lakes Newspaper, as well as Walworth Newspapers Inc. The group’s two flagship papers are the Burlington Standard Press and the Elkhorn Independent.
As the company continued to grow, so did Nadolski’s role.
Before joining Southern Lakes, Nadolski worked at the Ozauka Press, where he served as a general assignment reporter, sports editor and co-managing editor.
He is succeeded by Tracy Ouellette, who has worked for the company since 2006. Most recently, she served as community and special sections editor.
In the article announcing Nadolski’s retirement, Ouellette cited the former editor’s guidance and encouragement as the reason for her professional success.
