Peter Frank, who has worked at the Green Bay Press-Gazette for the last 23 years, has been named editor of the newspaper, according to an announcement published on Jan. 10.
Frank, who most recently oversaw coverage of breaking and trending news in Green Bay and other sites in the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, will also lead a regional team focused on government, public safety and courts.
After joining the newspaper in 1999, Frank has held various positions at the Press-Gazette, including news editor, metro editor, community editor, opinion editor, business editor, engagement editor, and living and team editor.
Previously, he worked as a reporter for the Monroe Evening Times, reporter and news editor for the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune and news editor for the Wausau Daily Herald. He also spent more than three years in Poland working as a freelance journalist for the Warsaw Business Journal. He’s a 1989 graduate of UW-Eau Claire and he earned a master’s degree in liberal studies from Fort Hays State University in 2010. Frank also served in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1985.
During his tenure in Green Bay, he has won two Best of Gannett awards and two first-place awards in the WNA’s Better Newspaper Contest.
Frank succeeds Mark Treinen, who served as news director since March 2019 and recently was named editor of The (Madison) Capital Times.
