Ann Meyer has joined the EagleHerald newsroom in Marinette as a staff writer, she announced Monday in a column.
Meyer, a veteran journalist who has spent much of her career reporting and editing business news in the Chicago area, will cover the city of Menominee, Mich., for the EagleHerald, as well as Menominee County.
A Northwestern University graduate, Meyer started her professional journalism career as a reporter in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she covered the police and higher education beats. She returned to the Chicago area for her next job, taking on the role of associate editor for Mature Outlook magazine in February 1986.

Meyer later served as managing editor of Dairy Foods magazine and spent 10 years as editor of The Catalog & Web Marketer, from 1991 to 2001. She worked as an independent journalist for many years, during which time she wrote a weekly business column for the Chicago Tribune from 2002 to 2011.
In July 2010, Meyer launched SmallBizChicago.com, a website designed to inform and connect small business executives. The website later inspired the Tribune’s Blue Sky section and the launch of Retail Leader magazine, for which Meyer served as senior editor.
In 2018, Meyer moved to Savannah, Ga., where she covered education for the Savannah Morning News. She returned to the Chicago area in 2020 for health reasons.
