The EagleHerald last week celebrated its 150th anniversary as a newspaper in Marinette.
The anniversary edition included a 12-page special section filled with historical photos, a brief timeline of local history and stories about the past, present and future of newspapers. Also featured throughout were memories from current and former staff members — including longtime news editor Penny Mullins and former publisher Dennis Colling.
The EagleHerald dates back to June 24, 1871, when the Marinette and Peshtigo Eagle was first published by Judge Luther B. Noyes. The paper remained in Noyes’ family until 1980, when it was sold to Bliss Communications, then-publisher of The Gazette in Janesville. Five years later, the Marinette Eagle-Star merged with The Herald-Leader of Menominee, Mich., to form the EagleHerald.

Now a part of Adams Publishing Group, the EagleHerald publishes three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It joined APG in June 2019 when Bliss Communications sold its newspapers and printing facility.
