As advertising and event revenues continue to decline amid the coronavirus pandemic, the ability of local newspapers to provide their communities with critical information is increasingly at risk.

The WNA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to support local newspapers and the communities they serve, has launched the Wisconsin Community News Fund to help ensure Wisconsin’s newspapers can continue fulfilling their critical mission of providing consistent, fact-based information to the public.

The program allows Wisconsin newspapers to solicit tax-deductible community donations to support coverage of public affairs and current events using individual campaign portals setup by WNA staff.

Newspapers participating in the Wisconsin Community News Fund will be provided:

  • customized campaign page(s)
  • marketing and promotional assets
  • ongoing best practices and success stories
  • dedicated support from the WNA team
  • all technology setup

All contributions will be managed and distributed by the WNA Foundation, and participating news outlets will be required to submit quarterly reports on how funds are being used.
