LAKE CITY, Mich. — Local Media Association on Tuesday announced it has partnered with the Facebook Journalism Project and Lenfest Institute for Journalism to offer $1 million in grants to support news coverage of COVID-19.
The grants are aimed at filling needs within local newsrooms as they cover the impact of the coronavirus outbreak within their communities. Grants may be requested by local news organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Freelance journalists with established working relationships with local news organizations also may apply. Submissions will be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis until all funds have been awarded. Those chosen to receive grants will be notified within a short window after applying.
