High School Better Newspaper Contest
The annual WNA Foundation’s High School Better Newspaper Contest recognizes student achievements in high school newspapering. Awards are given out during the annual Honors Luncheon at the WNA Convention & Trade Show.
Each year, the three high school journalism programs that win the general excellence award in the WNA Foundation Better Newspaper Contest each receive a $1,000 Branen Scholarship.
Kettle Moraine Press Association
The Kettle Moraine Press Association, headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is dedicated to the support of scholastic journalism in Wisconsin and Illinois schools. KEMPA supports students and advisers through conferences, workshops, competitions and scholarships.
The Chippewa Valley School Journalism Association
The Chippewa Valley School Journalism Association, headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, is made up of school publication advisers for the purpose of promoting and teaching good journalism skills. CVSJA is dedicated to educating high school, middle school and junior high school journalists and assisting their advisers in any way possible.
Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association
The Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association, based at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, began in 1969 with a small group of college students traveling to local high schools, teaching students about journalism. Today, nearly 500 people participate annually in NEWSPA’s spring conference, which is designed to teach students about the field of journalism through workshops, speakers and the ability to network with other schools and students.
