The 2020 WNAF Better Newspaper Contest included 2,051 entries from 103 newspapers. Eligible entries were published between Sept. 1, 2019, and Aug. 31, 2020, and were judged by members of the Texas Press Association.
Recipients of 2020 Newspaper of the Year Awards were Publisher Orestes Baez and The Gazette, Janesville, (Daily Division) and Publisher Kurt Krueger and the Vilas County News-Review, Eagle River (Weekly Division).
Best in Division winners were:
- Division A: The Gazette, Janesville
- Division B: Leader-Telegram, Eau Claire
- Co-Division C: The Northwoods River News, Rhinelander
- Co-Division C: The Daily Globe, Ironwood, Mich.
- Division D: Vilas County News-Review, Eagle River
- Division E: The Monroe Times
- Division F: The Valders Journal
