Marvin W. Morgenstern died April 1, 2003, at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Friendship following a long illness. He was 86.

Born in 1916 in Youngstown, N.D., Morgenstern attended the University of Minnesota. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945 and participated in the Peleliu Operation in the Pacific as a technical sergeant with the aviation photograph laboratory, before being honorably discharged.

He and his wife, Lucile, who were married in 1938, moved to Adams-Friendship in 1952 after purchasing the Times-Reporter. Together, they ran the paper until their retirement in 1978.

Morgenstern was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Adams and participated in the following service clubs: Adams-Friendship VFW Post 6279, American Legion Red Cloud Post No. 250, Quincy Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Wisconsin, the Order of the Eastern Star, Zor Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Madison and the Heart of Wisconsin Shrine Club.
