Lela P. Andrews, former editor, publisher and owner of the Richland Democrat newspaper, was born Aug. 28, 1889, in Richland Center to Edward and Barbara (Northrup) Parfrey.
She studied and graduated from the Whitewater Teachers College and taught in schools in Sextonville and Mt. Horeb. In 1918, she married A.P. Andrews.
She ran the Richland Democrat newspaper as editor, publisher and owner from 1936 until 1963.
Andrews died April 19, 1985, at the age of 94.
