Joyce Katherine LaGasse was born July 4, 1925, above The Thorp Courier office during an Independence Day parade. She worked at the Courier for her father and her grandfather, William Wagner, who founded the newspaper in 1883.
LaGasse and her husband, Jack, co-published the newspaper for many years before they retired in 1985. While they published the paper, they attended many state and national conventions.
