John T. Martin passed away on Aug. 30, 2006, at the age of 62. John was a former publisher of the Sawyer County Gazette in Winter.
John grew up and attended school in Winter. He was in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1962, and served in the National Guard for six and half years. John worked for the Gazette for 26 years. He also worked for the DNR and the Marquip Corporation.
John belonged to many organizations, including the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, the Winter Fire Department, the Fire Department Bowling League, the American Legion and St. Peter’s Holy Name Society. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church.
