John P. “Jack” Adams, former longtime editor and publisher of the Belleville Recorder, spent decades bringing the news to his rural community.
Adams’ father, Herbert, bought the Recorder in 1939, and Adams took ownership ten years later. His community column, “Up and Adams,” anchored the traditional country paper.
Adams suffered health issues for several years prior to his death yet still managed to edit the paper with his wife Marian.
He died June 10, 1991, in Belleville. He was 66.
