Born on July 13, 1948, in Eau Claire to Clarence O. and Margaret (Gilbertson) Rogers, John A. Rogers was a 1967 graduate of Winneconne High School. Rogers, who lived his entire life in Winneconne, married Lynn Pedersen on Aug. 15, 1970. The couple was married for 53 years and had two children, Jenna and Kevin.
Growing up, Rogers worked alongside his parents, who were co-owners and co-editors of the Winneconne News. The newspaper, which has been in publication for 144 years, has been owned and operated by the Rogers family since 1953.
In 1974, he purchased the printing company and newspaper from his parents and served as publisher for 50 years — up until the time of his death.
Rogers died on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, following a battle with small cell cancer and pulmonary fibrosis. He was 75.
