James Slack, former publisher of The (Turtle Lake) Times died March 7, 2008.
Slack graduated from Spooner High School and attended Northland College in Ashland. He married Anne Lange in 1957 and years later, he went to work for his father-in-law, Harold Lange, at Halco Press in Turtle Lake.
Slack continued his newspaper and printing work until he and Anne purchased the business in 1973 following Harold Lange’s death. Following Anne’s death in 1999, the business remained in the family, being sold to son David and daughter-in-law, Denise, before retiring in 2002.
