Isabelle M. (Diedrich) Koenig, 92, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Born Oct. 23, 1907, in Waukesha, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Schneider) Diedrich. After graduating from Waukesha High School, she worked for Hardy Ryan Abstract in Waukesha.
On Sept. 2, 1933, Isabelle married Gilbert Koenig. Following the birth of their first son, the family moved to Osseo, where Isabelle and Gilbert Koenig served as co-publishers of the Tri-County News.
In 1939, the couple returned to live in the Waukesha area. Koenig took an active role in community organizations. She served as a Gray Lady at Waukesha Memorial Hospital during World War II. She was a charter member of the Waukesha Symphony Auxiliary, the Waukesha County Mental Health Association, the Catholic Memorial Mothers Club and the Waukesha Catholic Study Club.
She was proud of her 75-year association with a bridge club of former high school friends in Waukesha. The Koenigs celebrated 63 years of marriage and traveled to 42 countries during their life together.
