Horace L. Buri, former editor, publisher and owner of the Jefferson Banner, was born Sept. 19, 1908, in Jefferson. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1926 and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Buri married Leonore (Nonie) Carlson on March 30, 1944. They had three daughters and six grandsons together.
After high school, Buri joined the Jefferson Banner and became an editor of the paper. He then transitioned to publisher and eventually became owner before retiring in 1973.
Buri died April 12, 1989, in Jefferson. He was 80.
