Harold J. “H.B.” Blaschko, former owner of the Arcadia News-Leader, was born June 8, 1919, in Le Center, Minn., to Joseph and Lenora Blashko. He married Irene E. Dailey on Feb. 5, 1946.
Harold and Irene moved to Arcadia, Wis., in 1955 as Blaschko became a partner in a printing company and the Arcadia News-Leader. Five years later, he took over sole ownership.
Blaschko was a member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and a number of local organizations. He served in Europe during World War II with the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was named the 1975 Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year.
On Feb. 22, 1995, Blaschko died at his home in Arcadia. He was 77.
