Former Dunn County News photographer Daniel W. Loonstra dies at 69

Former Wisconsin newspaper photographer Daniel Wayne Loonstra, of Menomonie, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug, 10, at his home. He was 69.

A native of Wood County, Wisconsin, he graduated in 1972 from Auburndale High School and in 1974 from North Central Technical College in Wausau, where he earned a degree in graphic arts. After college, he joined the Dunn County News, where he worked as a photographer from 1974 to 1978. During this time, he won several Wisconsin Newspaper Association awards. He went on to work in the printing industry and retired as a manufacturing technician from 3M Menomonie in December 2015, after 35 years of service.

Jelissa Burns is Post-Crescent’s newest food and drink reporter

Jelissa Burns is the new regional food and drink reporter for the USA TODAY Network-Wisconsin, based in Appleton. She will cover northeastern Wisconsin from Fond du Lac to Door County.

As the regional food and drink reporter, Burns will focus on highlighting signature foods and drinks from local restaurants, diving deeper into the history of restaurants and their owners, and covering all things food-related for local festivals and events. Burns previously worked as the streetwise reporter for the Sheboygan Press.
