In June 1967, Bonnie Fechtner joined the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and over four decades served in many managerial positions within the organization.
Throughout her 47 years of tireless service, Bonnie became a stabilizing force for the members and the association. She was known as someone who could always be counted on.
Bonnie married her husband, Steve, and raised their two daughters while working for the association. But they knew she had another family that was very important to her — her newspaper family.
Her commitment and loyalty to this group was the driving force behind her support of the Better Newspaper Contest, annual conventions, Trees For Tomorrow retreats and the installation of a new Memorial Pylon, among other efforts to enhance the association.
“I will always be grateful for the many friends I have made along the way and the wonderful memories I will take with me,” Bonnie said upon her retirement in 2014.
The WNA would not be what it is today if it had not been for the service, dedication and loyalty that Bonnie has provided.
