The internet is full of misinformation and disinformation. If you are voting for the first time this election season, it can be daunting to try and sort fact from fiction on social media. 

This free fact-checking short course from the MediaWise Voter Project (#MVP2020) will help you feel 💯  going into Election Day. In one hour, you’ll learn the basics of misinformation, how to quickly fact-check suspicious posts, and how to identify even the sneakiest of online ads.

  • The difference between reporting, commentary and fact-checking 
  • All the different definitions of misinformation, from clickbait to deepfakes
  • How to use the three most common fact-checking tools
  • What a fact-check looks like on different social media platforms
  • How to spot political ads on social media

Who should take this course?

This program was designed for the first-time voter, ages 18-22 years old, and is recommended for high school and college students and anyone else who is heading to cast their vote for the first time in November.
