A tumultuous election season has almost come to a close and — no matter the results — newspapers will surely be impacted.

Join us for a bipartisan discussion on how election outcomes may affect the legislative and business environment and how newspapers can position themselves with their readers post-election.

This program is available to members of America’s Newspapers, as well as trial members, as part of their membership (at no additional cost). Learn about membership or sign up for a free trial membership here.

Regardless of how the election plays out — with a new president, four more years under President Trump, potential changes in Senate seats (and the possibility of the Senate flipping) — the impact will be felt in a number of areas.

The discussion during this program will focus on the impact that newspapers could see, especially in terms of:

Legislation like the Local Journalism Sustainability Act and the Journalism Competition & Preservation Act.

The business climate for national and local businesses, and subsequently, advertising spending.

Tax laws and the impact on national and local businesses.

Employment laws, including regulations for independent contractors.

How newspapers can engage with their readers on critical issues, whether the “fake news” era continues or not.

This America’s Newspapers discussion will be led by: Ashley Wilson, vice president, Congressional and public affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Camille Olson, partner, Labor and Employment, Seyfarth Shaw LLP; and moderated by Dean Ridings, CEO, America’s Newspapers
