Virtual forum: State Superintendent candidates

Date: Mar. 19, 2021
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Location: Zoom Webinar

Join us March 19 for the next installment of our virtual event series, Forum Friday, where we’ll host a discussion with State Superintendent of Public Instruction candidates Deborah Kerr and Jill Underly.

The two candidates will face off for the state’s top education post in the spring election on April 6. Forum Senior Researcher Anne Chapman and City Forward Collective Director of Policy and Advocacy Colleston Morgan, Jr. will challenge the candidates to address several pressing statewide K-12 education issues, including:

  • state support for students and schools as they struggle to emerge from the pandemic
  • ongoing efforts to meet the needs of students with disabilities, English learners, and students in poverty
  • equity challenges surrounding academic opportunity and teacher diversity
  • changes in the amount and distribution of K-12 school aids proposed by the Governor in the new state budget

We want to hear from you, too! We’ll conclude with a Q&A session for registered participants. Registration is free, but required for this event. We look forward to your participation!
