The State of Journalism: Where we’ve been, where we’re going

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Press Club is pleased to announce that Chuck Todd, moderator of Meet the Press, NBC News political director and recipient of the club’s 2019 Sacred Cat Award, will be our honored guest Feb. 24 for a virtual discussion about the unprecedented challenges facing journalists today.

Todd, the 12th moderator of Meet the Press, the longest-running program in television history, will talk via Zoom with Charles Benson, reporter/anchor with TMJ4, about the realities of news coverage and how it has evolved to its current status.

Among the topics to be covered are the impact of misinformation, fake news, bias and alternative facts in a nation that remains deeply divided by politics and skeptical of journalism; and social media vs traditional media: How are the rules changing? Who will the public trust?

Please join us for this event, set for 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. The cost is $20 for Milwaukee Press Club members and students and $25 for non-members.

This event is a fundraiser for the Milwaukee Press Club, which has been preserving and supporting the role of journalism since 1885.

You must register and pay in advance to view this event. Those who register will receive a link on the afternoon of the event to view it live.
