Celebrate National Newspaper Week with us Oct. 7-13

The 78th annual National Newspaper Week, which is sponsored by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, kicks of Oct. 7.

Newspapers should plan to mark the week by helping to reinforce the importance of newspapers to their community. This year’s NNW week package includes columns, house ads, an editorial cartoon, a crossword puzzle and more.

Report: “Dark store” property tax appeals on the rise

A survey by the Wisconsin Policy Forum suggests “dark store” tax appeals are on the rise as many communities plan advisory referendums this fall. Local officials in 215 Wisconsin communities said they had 79 dark store cases in 2017, up from 63 in 2016 and 66 in 2015.

ITC reverses newsprint tariffs

In a tremendous victory for newspapers across the country, the International Trade Commission voted this morning to reverse tariffs imposed on newsprint imported from Canada.
