Longtime Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane, who spent nearly three decades with the newspaper, was found dead in his Milwaukee apartment Thursday, the Journal Sentinel reported. He was 63.

Francis “Frank” Ryan, who spent two decades covering the Wisconsin State Capitol for United Press International, died Friday, April 10, in Middleton. He was 84.

Jerry Minnich, a writer, author and publisher whose work included more than 20 years of Isthmus restaurant reviews, died Friday, March 27. He was 86.

William “Bill” Hale, who owned the Grant County Herald Independent in Lancaster for nearly two decades, died April 1, in Florida following a long battle with cancer. He was 78.

Edward James (Jim) McLoone, longtime publisher of the Lake Country Reporter and founder of Lake Country Publications, died Thursday, April 9, at his home. He was 91.

Jennifer Lee Blum, whose first job out of college was as news editor for two central Wisconsin newspapers, died Friday, April 3, in Marshfield. She was 57.

Marlys Taege Moberg (nee Schmidt), a former Wisconsin newspaper journalist and author, died Wednesday, March 18, in Wauwatosa. She was 91.

James Conley, Jr., a longtime journalist and founder of Conley Publishing Group, died Friday, March 20, in Aiken, S.C. He was 76.

Roberta Fischer, a retired journalist who earned her degree in 1948 from UW-Madison, died Feb. 28, in Madison. She was 94.
