Godlewski launches public records database

Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski

Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski announced the launch of a new, online, searchable database of public records — marking the latest step in what she says is her office’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and modernization. The launch was covered in a June 6, 2025 brief printed in The Lakeland Times of Minocqua.

The searchable database is part of a new portal that streamlines access to public government documents. In addition to free access, certified copies can be ordered directly through the portal for a small fee, as required by state law, according to Godlewski.

“Our goal is to have documents available online within 10 business days of filing,” Godlewski said. “This kind of real-time access strengthens trust in government by ensuring Wisconsinites can see and understand what’s happening in their state.”

The launch is part of a broader effort by the secretary of state’s office to modernize operations and better serve the public through user-friendly technology and transparent service, according to the article.
