Long-time Southern Lakes Newspapers editor in chief Ed Nadolski, who stepped away from the job in January 2023, died on Dec. 24, 2024 at age 62.
Nadolski had previously survived a long-term non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis in 2008 and frontotemporal dementia which was diagnosed shortly after his retirement, according to a Jan. 3, 2025 story in the Burlington Standard Press and the East Troy News.
Nadolski worked with Southern Lakes Newspapers for 23 years, guiding the papers through major news stories, an ownership change and a general industry expansion and contraction while raising his family in Burlington. He worked for the Ozaukee Press from the 1980s forward, beginning his employment as a general assignment reporter, before moving to sports editor and co-managing editor.
His community activity included involvement with the Burlington Rotary Club and Burlington Community Fund. He also played a part in several notable decisions in the community, including the building of Veterans Terrace and the reshaping of the Burlington community pool – now the Burlington Community Aquatic Center.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, and children Austin (Emily), Emily (Steven) of Milwaukee, Lauren (Robert) of Minneapolis, and Karley of Washington, DC. He is further survived by his siblings, Kathleen of Port Washington, David (Theresa) of Menomonee Falls, Kristine (Bruce) of Bucyrus, Mo., John (Shelley) of Lake Elmo, Minn., Andrew of Grafton and his two granddaughters, Frances and Edie.
A mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, located at 108 McHenry St. in Burlington, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, followed by a memorial at Veterans Terrace, which is located at 589 Milwaukee Ave. in Burlington, from 12:30-4 p.m. The Daniels Funeral home is handling arrangements for the family, who suggests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Nadolski’s name.
