Romell “Mel” Leo Fisher, longtime resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024 at the age of 89.
After graduation from Antigo High School, at the age of 17, Mel continued working at the local shoe factory. Eventually, he moved to Milwaukee where he landed a job at the newspaper company largely due to his interest in journalism and his exceptional typing skills.
Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country in Virginia, stateside, until his honorable discharge. Thereafter, he returned to Green Bay and secured a job at the Green Bay Press Gazette where he worked as the dispatch department manager for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; two children, Maria (Chad) Lasecki, and Joseph (Peggy) Fisher; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Per Mel’s wishes, a private Catholic Mass was held; to send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
