Cory Jennerjohn joins WNA as Foundation Coordinator

Cory Jennerjohn

The Wisconsin Newspaper Association recently announced the addition of Cory Jennerjohn as WNA Foundation Coordinator.

Jennerjohn, 45, has a plethora of communication and teaching experience that will serve him well as the WNA Foundation Coordinator. He has worked for The Post-Crescent and Wisconsin State Journal and has won awards from the Hoosier State Press Association as a sports editor for the Post & Mail in Columbia City, Indiana.

“With a strong background as a former newspaper columnist and editor and elementary school educator, Cory brings a wealth of knowledge to the WNA Foundation’s mission of supporting quality journalism,” remarked WNA Executive Director Beth Bennett. “I appreciate his enthusiasm for growing the educational offerings of the WNA Foundation.”

As a journalist, Jennerjohn covered the Green Bay Packers, UW-Madison, UW-Oshkosh, University of Notre Dame, University of Indiana, Purdue University and a host of high school games.

He spent the last four years with the Waunakee Community School District as an elementary school educator. He enjoyed seeing progress on students’ faces and challenged them at every available opportunity.

Jennerjohn earned his undergraduate journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. As the women’s basketball beat reporter for The Advance-Titan, the UWO student newspaper, he was able to carve out a relationship with a certain small forward who he ended up marrying several years later.

He also co-hosted the TV show “Off The Bench” interviewing college and high school guests with strong athletic accomplishments.

Jennerjohn was one of 12 college journalists selected to go to California to take part in the Los Angeles Times Sports Seminar at Hollywood Park. His feature story on a jockey who earned his stripes as a city bus driver in the congested streets of Mexico City earned him a spot in the Racing Forum.

He earned his graduate degree in strategic communication from the University of Iowa. That was one of the best things he has ever done coupled with one of the toughest because he was a stay-at-home father at the time.

Another project he completed as a stay-at-home dad was writing a children’s book — which took a year, and taught him valuable lessons about branding, compromise and the editing process.

Currently, Jennerjohn writes a Packers column twice a week for CheeseheadTV.com. He has also appeared on numerous podcasts and even started a podcast for the Wisconsin Association of Gifted and Talented. He has edited several books, most recently, “If These Walls Could Talk: New York Mets: Stories From the New York Mets Dugout, Locker Room, and Press Box.”
