Mertes honored for civic contributions in Sun Prairie

Middleton Times-Tribune contributing writer Chris Mertes received the James J. Reininger Lifetime Achievement Award. The Reininger Award, created in 1997, honors City of Sun Prairie residents for their service to the community of Sun Prairie.

Mertes, who worked previously as managing editor and senior reporter for the Sun Prairie Star newspaper, retired from the paper in 2023 and currently owns 608 Beacon Enterprises LLC, which offers communications and consulting services — including his work for the Middleton Times-Tribune, as well as the Wisconsin Newspaper Association.
