Inducted: 1960

Wallace M. Comstock, former editor and publisher of the Oconto County Reporter, was born to a pioneer Michigan family around the year 1860.

He was educated in Ithaca, Mich., and remained there for a short time after graduation to teach. Afterwards, it was off to work on the rapidly expanding railroads as a station agent. During that time, he lived and worked in Woodman, Fennimore, Livingston, Dousman and Dodgeville.

In 1910, Comstock purchased a partial interest in the Oconto County Reporter weekly newspaper and served as its editor and publisher for many years. He maintained that partial interest until his death at the home of his son, who was editor of the Portage Daily Register.

Comstock died Sept., 11, 1952, at the age of 92.
