Larry Antony Jr., publisher of the Fond du Lac Reporter, died Oct. 28, 2013, at the age of 65. In that position, Antony initially hit the Fond du Lac streets, interviewing the community readers and leaders on their feelings of the role of the local paper. Focus on community became the mission of the newspaper during his tenure.
Antony was, above all, genuine, inspirational and totally dedicated. He loved the Fond du Lac community and instantly joined in to support local arts and tourism associations. Antony developed special sections and features on Fond du Lac projects.
He worked his entire career in the newspaper industry, holding various management positions for Gannett and Thomson, retiring from the Community Publishing Group in 2010. In addition to Wisconsin, he held newspaper positions in Indiana, Virginia, Maryland, Minnesota, Colorado and Michigan.
Larry was most proud of his role in the launch of USA TODAY. He had a longtime dream of living in Copper Harbor, Michigan and retired there. Larry was devoted to his parents and his home was a gathering place for family and friends, including six godchildren.
