Polco users and readers visiting WNA member websites from March 31 to April 14 were asked whether they would continue wearing a mask in public in the absence of a statewide mandate. We asked this question in light of a March 31 state Supreme Court decision that struck down Gov. Tony Evers’ statewide mask mandate.
Out of 1113 respondents, 77% said they would continue to wear a mask either for public health reasons or because it was still required by their city or county. Twelve percent of respondents said they would only wear a mask in businesses that required them, while 11% said they would not wear a mask.
The full question and results can be found below:
Without a statewide mandate, will you continue to wear a mask in public places?
- Yes, because my city/county still requires it: 6% (69)
- Yes, because it is important for public health: 71% (788)
- Only when required in stores and bars/restaurants: 12% (130)
- No, I look forward to finally not needing a mask: 6% (72)
- No, I never followed the statewide order anyway: 5% (54)
