JANESVILLE — Greg Peck, who in 2016 retired as opinion page editor of The (Janesville) Gazette, has published a book about his memories of growing up in Marshall, a small village about 20 miles northeast of Madison.
For every copy sold, Peck will donate $10 of the proceeds from his self-published book to the Marshall Area Historical Society. He will be signing the book, titled “Memories of Marshall: Ups and Downs of Growing Up in a Small Town,” from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sept. 27, outside the historical society museum, 128 E. Main St.
After growing up in Marshall, Peck studied journalism at UW-Oshkosh and graduated in 1979. While in college, Peck served as sports editor for the Advance-Titan student newspaper and wrote part-time for the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Peck went on to serve as a sports writer and later news editor of the Oconomowoc Enterprise. His last stop prior to Janesville was the (Wisconsin Rapids) Daily Tribune, where he served as city editor.
During a nearly three-decade-long tenure at The Gazette, Peck served as Sunday editor for 15 1/2 years and opinion page editor for another 13 1/2 years.
