Longtime Press-Gazette journalist Dian Page dies at 85

Dian Shirley (Slye) Page, a longtime columnist, reporter and women’s editor for the Green Bay Press-Gazette died Friday, Aug. 14. She was 85.

Page was born March 19, 1935, in Mankato, Minn., to Aloysius John and Nona Ione (Meyer) Reichel. She graduated from Mankato High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College.

On Aug. 20, 1955, she married her husband, David M. Page. Together they had two children, Mitchell and Dana, and three grandchildren, Haley, Rachel and Zachary.

Page started her newspaper career at the Mankato Free Press, before moving on to serve as women’s editor for the (Eau Claire) Leader-Telegram and as a reporter and copy editor for the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern. In 1970, she joined the staff of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, where she would remain until her retirement in 1998.

At the Press-Gazette, Page served as women’s editor, reporter and columnist. After her retirement, she continued writing for another 14 years as a columnist and correspondent for the Press-Gazette.

A memorial service for Page will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Allouez. No formal visitation will be held prior to the service.
