WASHINGTON ISLAND – Jennifer Perkins, a senior at Eastern Kentucky University, is working as an intern this summer at the Washington Island Observer.
Perkins, who is studying journalism and history, has served as opinions editor, news editor and editor-in-chief of The Eastern Progress student newspaper. She also has been an intern for The News Journal in Corbin, Ky.
This week, Perkins introduced herself to Washington Island readers, who she guessed had probably already “noticed the news silver truck that has been driving around the island.” In her introductory column, Perkins noted that her goals for the summer were to write more columns and improve her photography skills.
