Florence Berglund, former owner of the (Loyal) Tribune–Record-Gleaner, died Sunday, Oct. 7. She was 85.
Berglund was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Northfield, Minn. She married Robert Berglund on Dec. 30, 1956, before moving to Turtle Lake, where they lived for 11 years.
In 1968, the Berglunds purchased the Loyal Tribune and Spencer Record. After buying the Greenwood Gleaner in 1969, they combined the three newspapers into the Tribune-Record-Gleaner. Robert and Florence operated the newspaper until selling the business and retiring in 1998.
Robert Berglund, who served as WNA president in 1982, was inducted into the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2007.
Florence is survived by her husband; three daughters: Jacklyn (Bob) Loos of Loyal, Susan (Mark) Heilman of Holmen, and Michelle Berglund of Colby; one son: Mark (Wendy) Berglund of Medford; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Joe (Jeri) Rodrick of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Daniel Rodrick, and three sisters: Rose Montgomery, Ida Weise and Rita Lace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal.
