Jayson Coleman has recently joined the Wausau Times as a new Sports Reporter. A recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, Coleman holds an English-Creative Writing major and Journalism minor. The Wausau native wrote for the D.C. Everest H.S. newspaper, graduating in 2022. He has also interned with the Chippewa Valley Writer’s Guild and worked as a tutor within the campus’s writing center.
He said that while he’s been a huge sports fan for most of my life, he leans towards the “writer” side of “sportswriter.” He has created stories for as long as he can remember, with several pieces published in high school and collegiate literary magazines. He is currently working on a debut novel.
He watches any sport, although baseball is his favorite. Outside of sports and writing, he enjoys singing and theater, reading and riding roller coasters. He’s excited to tell the stories of local athletes and communities.
