Did you know August is National Dog Month? That’s right! And we know just the place to visit—Lake Geneva! This destination isn’t just a world-class getaway for people; it’s a true paradise for pups. From scenic walks to pet-friendly shops, restaurants, and stays, read on to start planning your next adventure!
A scenic stroll along the lake
Start your adventure on the one-and-only Geneva Lake Shore Path, a scenic, leashed-walk-friendly route right along the stunning shores of Geneva Lake. This path is absolutely perfect for a morning walk or evening run with your pup. Aside from the fresh air and epic lake views, along the way, you’ll discover several pet-friendly parks. Plus, there are several local boat rental companies that are ready to welcome your well-behaved pup on board. Let’s face it. What’s better than a lake day with your best friend?

Keep exploring at places like the Four Seasons Nature Preserve, the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy, the White River State Trail, and, of course, the White River Dog Park! Where are you heading next?
Downtown dog-friendly discoveries
After your lakeside walk, head downtown to explore some of Lake Geneva’s dog-friendly businesses. First stop: Paws for Treats, a one-stop shop for all things dog! From treats to toys, this shop has everything your pup could ever want.
Next, visit 9 Lives Boutique, a high-quality thrift shop with an amazing mission! All proceeds and donations support the Lakeland Animal Shelter. And as you explore downtown, keep your eyes peeled for Inspired Coffee and Malini Bikini, two local spots that serve up pup cups.
A bite to eat (with a view)
When you’ve worked up an appetite from all that walking, playing, and shopping, Lake Geneva offers an array of pet-friendly bars and restaurants. On the list is Magpie’s Den and Pub. Magpie’s offers the perfect setup, with patio seating, a fresh bowl of water, and some tasty snacks for your pup—not to mention, a gorgeous lake view.

To cap off the day of play, check into the Maxwell Mansion, a historic (and pet-welcoming) stay right in the heart of Lake Geneva.
